Simply, metabolism is the amount of calories you burn in a day. However, metabolic rate, or the number of total calories you burn daily also includes maintenance of bodily functions, amount of daily activity, and intentional exercise.
Metabolism is affected by gender, body composition, age, hormones, medication, illness, level of activity, level of fitness, weight loss or gain, body mass, stress, and caffeine.

Test
The Body Gem™ Test is a non-invasive procedure. A simple 10-minute breath test, accomplished by breathing into the handheld device through a disposable mouthpiece determines your resting metabolic rate.
As food, exercise, and caffeine all affect metabolism, it is advised that you not eat, exercise, or drink caffeine for four (4) hours prior to the test.
